Questions about The Beginner’s Guide to Social Media ebook

Q. Just what is social media, and why should I download your ebook?

A. For many businesses, social media is just one more buzz word they’re having to wrestle with. However, social media isn’t just a buzz word and it’s not going away — social media can have a profound effect on almost any type of business.

The chances are your competitors and even your own customers are learning about social media right now. Can you afford not to?

So for all those business people out there, struggling to understand social media, with a hope to making social media work for your business, then my ebook might just be the very thing you’re looking for.

The Beginner’s Guide to Social Media is packed with illustrations and years of practical social media know-how and hard-earned business experience, all condensed into an easy-to-follow guide to getting the most out of social media for your business.

After reading my book, social media needn’t be just a another buzz word!

Q. This isn’t just some re-worked PowerPoint or Word file?

A. No, this is a professionally composed book, prepared using QuarkXpress (a high-end pre-press publishing application), complete with linked index, illustrations / graphics, chapters and linked references to various other articles of my own.

Q. Why write an ebook for business people and why beginners?

A. There’s a huge cloud of uncertainty when it comes to social media in the broader business community. A lot of business people either don’t understand what it is, what to do with it, what it can do, or whether social media is a threat or a benefit to their business.

When it comes to business, social media can have a dramatic impact, both positively and negatively. So it’s as well that business people understand social media and know how and when to apply social media to their business strategies, marketing campaigns, brand / reputation management exercises et cetera.

There are tons of things being said about social media, but most of it appears to be making the assumption that you know what social media is. For many business people, this really isn’t the case.

So I’ve written The Beginners Guide to Social Media: an introduction to social media from a business perspective, as a total ground-up introduction to social media.

Q. Can I share your social media ebook with friends and colleagues?

A. I would very much appreciate that, so yes! Please forward them the link to the download page.

Q. So the ebook is free for now, but are you going to charge for it at some point?

A. No, I won’t be charging for The Beginner’s Guide to Social Media ebook. The reason? Because I’d have to “sell” it, which is a lot work. So I took a gamble and decided to give the ebook away in the hope that it would serve as an electronic advertisement of my knowledge and expertise.

However, I’ve given thought to writing a follow-up, which would pick up the story and take things a step further, moving things towards a more intermediate of know-how, with more hints, tips and practical advice. That would be a bigger ebook, which I would charge for.

Questions about the Social Media Marketing Technology blog

Q. So who’s behind the Social Media Marketing Technology blog?

A. My name’s Wayne Smallman and I’m the same guy behind the Blah, Blah! Technology blog. I’m also the managing director and owner of Octane Interactive, a web design and development agency started in 1999, which is based in the north of England.

Q. What’s the goal of the blog?

A. To offer practical social media advice to businesses. Each article will deal with just one subject and give you, the reader, a basic but practical introduction.

Beyond that, the Social Media Marketing Technology blog is a venue for me to demonstrate my knowledge of social media. So in a sense, the ebook is a huge advert for me, which is doing OK so far.
